Interview Q&A
The creative brief was simply a “word on the street” style video series. I was given topics and a timeline. We split the 8 video series into 2 filming sessions.
Synced Video Overlays
I wanted to create an immersive experience since this video was meant both to tell a story and be participatory. The venue was large enough that we needed IMAG to engage the audience but still wanted to display video clips simultaneously. These alpha channel videos were our best option without access to video mixers with similar capabilities.
Message Series Bumper
The overarching goal of these short-style videos are to facilitate staging changes and to transition the feel of the show to get ready for the speaker. This series was dealing with controversial topics so the goal was to externalize that and bring levity to situation people may be entering with anxiety. Pairing mess with classical music provides a juxtaposition highlighting the absurdity of the visuals.
Message Series Bumper
This short was created using a significant amount of automation. The aesthetic was inspired by the movie “Loving Vincent”. The initial video and audio were cut. Then the video was exported as a series of stills. Each image was then sent through a photoshop script (to get the painted look you see here) exported and using Mac Automator the next image was selected and exported, etc.
Tour Visual
Tour visuals are simply what you typically see broadcast behind a musician or DJ. They are typically bespoke for a stage setup. These were created for a 12 screen stage layout.
Informational
I have worked extensively with creating sustainable ways to make consistent and professional videos. This is a grab from one of the many “Church News” videos I’ve made. From lighting and sound, to editing and graphics overlays these were a weekly project in additional to other duties. This video was filmed with a Cyc wall, Zoom recorder with shotgun mic, a DSLR, and a teleprompter.
